SP462691 - Hensborough Hill - 113m

We're all very pleased to present the first trig point contribution from the Midlands Branch.  Take it away Polar ...

Who am I? Do you need to ask? I'm Polar of the Midlands Branch. Hopefully mine is a familiar face by now, as I've appeared on the main blog quite a bit recently, and I've also had my biography done on Bears Unlimited biographies.

Where am I? I returned to the Midlands Bear Cave after Christmas, following my extended stay with the Norfolk Branch. This does suggest I might be in the Midlands, and indeed that is exactly where I am. More precisely, I am sitting on the Hensborough Hill trig point, which is on the edge of the large reservoir of Draycote Water, not far from Rugby where I live.

When and Why was I there? I don't like to let the grass grow under my paws, so it was a case of no sooner visited than posted. Yes, I was there today, January 30th 2011, even if it does look more like I was there on a summer's day than the middle of winter. The sunshine and blue skies are actually deceptive and I can confirm that it was very cold out. This is one of the reasons I was selected for the photo. It was because, being a heatable beanie bear, I was able to leap in the microwave and get very warm before venturing outdoors. This not only kept me warm, but also the party I was out and about with. It was Suffolk and Midlands Branch minders that I was accompanying: the former had come to visit the latter for the weekend and we all felt like some fresh air after lunch, so selected the 5 mile circuit of the reservoir for an afternoon walk.

I thought I'd go for a first on this blog and include a close up shot of the technical detail of the trig point. It was certainly a well looked after trig point and rather whiter than the 2 visited by the Norfolk Branch.

Love Polar xxx

P.S. who's going to be next?
